things you should not do to your expensive new laptop

turns out, you should not spill tea (even very small amounts of tea!) on your laptop. apparently, this messes them up. so poor little miss mary mac (all dressed in white, because the black ones are more expensive) is now in the shop getting a "diagnostic" done. of course, when i explained to the good people at the computer repair shop that all the keys on the right side of the keyboard stopped working, i opted not to mention the tea incident. because my laptop is still covered under warranty, but i bet they have some sort of "tea clause" for people like me.

So? Was there a tea clause?

All of Brooklyn's dying to know & it is as yet unanswered.

well i was very clever and did not mention to the boys at the shop that any hot beverages were spilled on miss mary mac. i was all "the keyboard isn't working, what gives?!" and then they said that they've seen this before. so i pretended to be intrigued saying something clever like "oh really? how odd." and then they fixed it for free! so the answer is i still don't know whether there is a tea clause, but i would suggest not mentioning tea spillage if you find yourself in a similar situation.

Duly noted in the minutes for this meeting. I have yet to spill, but when the cat does--'cause you know he's gonna--I'll remember to play dead.

It amazes me that any company fixes anything at all these days--warranty or not--for free. Congrats!
